Every Marvel Movie & Show Premiering in 2021
It has been such a terrible week that it feels like 2020 all over again. But if there’s anything that will separate this year from last year, it’s that we’re getting a ton of Marvel movies and shows in 2021, as opposed to every project getting delayed in 2020.
With the number of movies and shows premiering this year, I have compiled a list of every upcoming installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year and when and where you can watch it.
Marvel Studios: Legends
This is a miniseries that will showcase certain characters in the MCU. Each episode will be centered on an individual character and their most iconic moments in the MCU.
It sounds like a clip show series, but it will be nice to revisit some of Marvel’s best moments. The first two episodes will be centered on Scarlet Witch and Vision, in anticipation of the next movie on this list.
Release: January 8, 2021 (Disney+)
WandaVision
This will be the first installment in Phase Four of the MCU. It will be a nine-episode miniseries starring Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Wanda Maximoff and Vision. This series will emulate old sitcoms spanning many decades, and it looks strange but delightful.
Teyonah Paris will also be reprising her role as Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel, as will Randall Park as Jimmy Woo (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis (Thor). WandaVision may be Marvel’s biggest risk, so I can’t wait to see what it offers.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
I can’t wait for this series. This upcoming six-episode miniseries will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the Falcon and the Winter Soldier after the events of Avengers: Endgame. They will be fighting an anarchist group called the Flag-Smashers.
Daniel Brühl reprises his role as Baron Zemo, as will Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, two characters from Captain America: Civil War. This looks like a buddy cop action spy thriller series with a ton of incredible spectacle and banter from the trailer.
Release: March 19, 2021 (Disney+)
Black Widow
A film that has been delayed multiple times due to the pandemic is finally premiering this year. Scarlett Johansson portrays Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow for the final time in this movie, where Natasha must face her past and reunite with family.
It will feature Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, a sister figure to Natasha. David Harbour and Rachel Weisz will appear as well. This looks like a cool film that I’m very excited to finally get to see.

Loki
This series brings back Tom Hiddleston as Loki after the 2012 version used the Tesseract to travel through time in Avengers: Endgame. Owen Wilson also stars as Mobius M. Mobius, a member of the Time Variance Authority.
It looks like an exciting crime drama with some time travel, Loki-esque comedy, and they could do some crazy things with the timeline here. There will be at least two seasons, and the first season will have six episodes.

What If…?
This animated series will star Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher, an observer of the multiverse. It will explore events in the MCU and show us what if they occurred differently. The trailer shows us Agent Carter taking the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers and becoming Captain Britain.
We’ll get to see many alternate realities and events in this series, as the live-action actors from the movies will be returning to voice their respective characters. There will be at least two seasons, with ten episodes each.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
After Black Widow, the next installment in the MCU will be Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel’s first movie with an Asian cast. Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi, a skilled martial artist who is drawn into the Ten Rings organization.
The supporting cast includes Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, and Ronny Chieng. It has the potential to be a thrilling martial arts film with well-directed action.
Release: July 9, 2021 (theaters)
Ms. Marvel
This will be Marvel’s first series to feature a Pakistani-American lead. Iman Vellani will be portraying Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old who writes superhero fan fiction and gains shapeshifting powers.
I can’t wait for this series. Vellani looks like a charismatic lead, and Kamala seems like a likable, relatable protagonist. Aramis Knight will also star as Kareem/Red Dagger.

Eternals
I’m excited about this film for many reasons. This movie will be directed by Chloé Zhao, who directed last year’s Nomadland, one of my favorites of 2020. It will also feature a very diverse ensemble cast, including Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, and more.
The film will follow the Eternals, an immortal alien race who reunites to protect the human race from the Deviants, their evil counterparts. It will also be the first movie in the MCU to feature a gay character, which looks like a huge stepping stone for representation with a lot of talent on board.
Release: November 5, 2021 (theaters)
Hawkeye
Clint Barton is finally getting a standalone series. Jeremy Renner returns as Hawkeye in this series, joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, a young archer who Cint is training to take on the mantle of Hawkeye.
Vera Farmiga will appear in the series as Kate’s mother, and Florence Pugh will be reprising her role from Black Widow in this series. Filming has begun for this series, and hopefully, this is a great series.

Spider-Man 3
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in this sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home. This film will likely pick up where the mid-credits scene left off, with Peter’s identity revealed to the world, and with Sony’s upcoming Venom sequel along with Morbius, we may have Spider-Man fighting the Sinister Six.
Jamie Foxx will join Holland as Max Dillon/Electro, the villain from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2. There have been rumors about the return of Kirsten Dunst and Andrew Garfield, as well as Tobey Maguire and Emma Stone.
It’s one of my most anticipated films of 2021, and it has the potential to be the best Spider-Man movie yet.
